Community

Community based services

Our commitment to our community is currently worked out in through sharing resources of food, clothing, and our facilities.

Backpack Program

We house the Crete Backpack program which currently offers food to families that need a little help with their food budget. Each week that school is in session, a qualifying student can take a backpack full of food home to nourish the family. Currently we have great community support and are able to provide 110 backpacks a week.

Clothes Closet

Our closet offers gently used clothing for people finding themselves in transitions. The clothes closet is available during the church office hours.

Feed America

Volunteers repurpose food from grocery stores that is approaching a past date and then families that can use the food pick it up at the church.

Food Distribution

We provide Sunday monthly food distributions in cooperation with the Food Bank of Lincoln. Volunteers from the church pack the food in bags for families who find themselves facing food insecurity.

The church is an approved Red Cross shelter for the community when a crisis strikes. People are prepared to bring what is needed when something happens to Crete and we need to rally.

The church is also a place of safety for elementary school students in an emergency situation. The building is close to the elementary school.

Our Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) is home to dozens of community-based organizations from scouts, to 4-H to community groups. Just call the office if your group is looking for space to meet.
